Winnifred A. (Harrison) LeCornec, age 102, passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Minnie (Duquet) Harrison and wife of the late Walter LeCornec.
She is survived by her daughters: Dawn LeCornec, and Luana Souza and her husband Michael, Grandchildren: Torrey and Troy LeCornec, Rachael Macomber, Hannah Flamos, Jillian and Tyler Souza, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was.predeceased by her daughter, Cheryle LeCornec and siblings Charles Jr., Maurice and Donald Harrison and Jacquelin Crowninshield. She was also the sister-in-law to Frances Crowninshield and Rita Harrison.
Winnifred was a lifetime member of the Berkley Congregational Church where she served on many committees over the years. One of her favorite committees was being in charge, along with her sister Jackie, of the children’s garden at the Annual Flower Show.
Winnifred was a foster grandparent at Triumph Headstart for over forty years, where she touched the lives of many children, who fondly called her Grandma Wynne. She was an avid reader. Her creativity was widespread; she sewed and crocheted beautifully, engraving scrimshaw, among many other crafts.
Winnifred was a lover of nature, always aware of the beauty around her. One of her favorite spots was the Cape Cod Canal, where she liked to sit or walk along the path. She was also the family historian. Spending many hours researching her family tree.
Winnifred was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, who will be sadly missed by many.
Her private funeral arrangements are under the care of Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Triumph Inc Headstart and Beacon Hospice of Fall River. A memorial service will be held at a later date where family and friends will be invited.
