William H. Tokarz Jr., 70, of Taunton, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at South Shore Hospital following a recent automobile accident. He was the beloved husband of Linda M. (Brum) Tokarz. Born in Taunton, he was the devoted son of William and Stasia (Miecznikowski) Tokarz.
Bill was employed as a postal carrier in Dighton for 32 years prior to his retirement in 2020. He served as a local union steward, secretary/treasurer, and annual convention delegate.
He was involved with the Neighborhood Corporation (WEIR) for over 35 years. He spent time on the board as vice-president and treasurer, helped organize and supervise annual Taunton River Festivals, and worked on many community projects. He also served on the Board of the Taunton Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was a long time active member of the Taunton River Sail and Power Squadron where he held the office of Commander and taught boating courses. He prepared and served many annual Clam Boils held at the Taunton Yacht Club.
Bill loved traveling with his wife/best friend, spending time in Florida with his youngest daughter and her family to escape the cold winters, or enjoying cruises with family and friends. During the summer months, he could always be found poolside with his eldest daughter and her family. His favorite outdoor activities included fishing, clamming, exploring, treasure seeking, and having or going to yard sales. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering in the backyard, chatting with friends, or visiting the casino.
In addition to his parents and loving wife Linda of over 50 years, Bill is survived by his daughters Tammie Tokarz-Moniz (Randy Moniz) of Taunton and Tanya Lombard (Joshua) of Northport, FL; his grandchildren, who lovely referred to him as “Grumpy”, Noah and Hannah Moniz and Jacob and Elizabeth Lombard; his sisters Stasia Brackett and Deborah Tokarz-Cordeiro (Tony Cordeiro) all of Taunton. He also leaves behind his in-laws Rose Cimini (Peter), John Brum (Marianne), Ann McGuirk (Brian), and Kim Viall (Ken) as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother John Tokarz and brothers-in-law Les Brackett and Michael Brum.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 10:00am - 1:00pm (a brief memorial will take place between 12:30-1:00) at Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton, MA.
