Wayne A. Parker, Sr.

October 1, 2020

Obituary

Wayne Anthony Parker Sr., 65, loving and devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grampa, Uncle and Friend passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his daughters, Elicia and Amber, on Thursday October 1, 2020. Wayne fought a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses leading up to his passing.

Wayne was born in New Bedford on June 7, 1955 to the late Walter “Buddy” Parker Sr. and the late Helen (Moniz) Parker. He lived in Wareham and had previously resided and grown up in Fairhaven.

Wayne was formerly a long time, dedicated employee of Foley Fish of New Bedford who returned his dedication by standing by him during some of the most trying and difficult times in his life.

Wayne’s passion, at all times, was his family. He loved family events; cookouts, birthdays, holidays or a simple dinner. He lived for each moment shared with others. Wayne was a friend to anyone that needed one, often times going out of his way to help people he had never met. His time spent with his parents was something he held very dear to his heart. Wayne was proud of his children, he told them so often and hugged them more often. He loved his family vacations to Hampton Beach and Florida, days spent camping, fishing or watching football. Every day was great when he was spending time with those he loved. Wayne enjoyed trading motorcycles and cars, sometimes for boats, and often before he ever got them registered. He treasured attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and even as his health failed him still made his way to as many as he possibly could. Wayne was a comedian, a joker and happiest when laughing and making others laugh. He fancied himself a mechanic and handyman, which often meant calling a brother or friend to be his mechanic or handyman.

He loved his friends. He loved his wife. He loved his children. He loved his grandchildren. He loved his brothers. He loved his parents.

He loved his family and he was loved.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna Parker; his brothers, Thomas Parker and his wife Lynda, Walter Parker Jr. and his wife Karen and his sister-in-law Kathy Parker; five children, Elicia Parker and her wife Stacy, Amber Parker and her fiancé Miguel Cabrera, Wayne Parker Jr., Aaron Lassiter and his wife Lisa and Amy Bonville; eight grandchildren, Zerrina Arnum, Zayvon Arnum, Treshaun Parker, Hawk Cabrera, Austin Lassiter, Timothy Lassiter, Ariana Santos and Christopher Santos; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Wayne was predeceased by his mother, father and his brother Roger Parker Sr. and he missed them more with every moment that they were apart.

His memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 between the hours of  4 and 7pm at  the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117Main Street, Fairhaven MA. Committal service will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 10am at the Acushnet Cemetery.
