Obituary

Tiverton, RI — Wayne H. Benner, 87, of Tiverton passed away at home on Sunday, September 6, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Lewis) Benner.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter and Jennie (Wintle) Benner. Wayne proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the United States Army 11th Airborne Division. Wayne worked for the Okonite Cable Company for over thirty-five years finally retiring in 1995 as Plant Manager. 

A devoted family man, he shared his love for nature with his daughters and grandsons through fishing and camping. He raised his family in faith and showed his love for the Lord through worship and service.

He leaves behind three daughters, Beth Haines and her husband David of Uxbridge MA, Lauren Benner of Dighton, MA; and Meg Fuschetti of Chelmsford, MA; five grandsons, Matthew and Daniel Haines, Scott Souza and James and Sam Fuschetti; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Natalie Souza; and two sisters, Naomi Coggins of Bethleham, PA, and Janet Benner of Duryea, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Melvin Benner.

A private graveside service with Military Honors for Mr. Benner will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Rehoboth Village Cemetery.
