Vivian White

May 27, 2022

Obituary

Vivian (Chagnon) White, 70, a native of Somerset, MA died May 27, 2022 at her home in Dighton. She was the daughter of the late Roland A and Edna P (Belmore) Chagnon and the loving wife of her devoted husband, Richard G White.

Born in Fall River, Vivian lived her formative years in Somerset. She graduated from Somerset High School in 1970 and in later years went on to get her Associates degree from Bristol Community College in accounting, a field in which she spent most of her working life.  She loved her husband and her home, her yard and gardens and her 3 favorite dogs, Riley, Susie and her most beloved, Lucky, with whom she spent countless hours hiking.

When Vivian enjoyed something, she jumped in with both feet giving it her all. She loved her family and her friends, cooking and baking for them, eating, boating, quilting, skiing, traveling, reading and hiking. She often reminisced about family clam boils with all the aunts, uncles and cousins growing up. They were a carefree and wonderful time in her childhood. She had a passion for baking and beautifully decorating the most delicious cookies. If Vivian made you cookies, you knew you were on her A list. A big Red Sox fan she and Rick traveled to several ballparks over the years to watch them play. One of their most exciting travel highlights was their trip to Alaska and going salmon fishing. She was a loyal and dedicated volunteer at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and later the Taunton Area Community Table Meal Center.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her siblings, Roland A Chagnon, Jr and his wife Becky of Swansea, Paul R Chagnon and his wife Alda of Fall River, Paulette E (Chagnon) Carmone of  Warren, RI,  and her step grandson Santana White of Florida. She was predeceased by her sister the late Dianne C Chagnon of RI and her stepson, Christopher White of Florida.

Known as Auntie to her nieces, Danielle, Michelle, Tiffani & Janiece, they were her delight, as were her nephews, Harry & Joshua. She is also survived by 13 great nephews & nieces all of whom brought her great joy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial visitation on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 4-7pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Words of Remembrance will begin at 6:30pm in the funeral home.
