Virginia D. (Chorlton) Gladue, 87, a resident of Somerset for most of her life, passed away after a brief illness at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River on May 1, 2021. She was the wife of the recently deceased, Philip J. Gladue, Jr, with whom she shared a wonderful marriage for 63 years.
Born in Somerset, a daughter of the late George O. She and her husband were members of the Quequechan Club in Fall River until its closing; and were both formerly active with the Somerset Friends of Music. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, bowling and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her book suggestions with her granddaughters and talking about the Red Sox with her grandsons.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Plager and her husband Michael of Greenfield, MA, Martha Gladue and her wife Peggy Valenti of Boston, and Susan Powell and her husband Brian of Portsmouth, RI; grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Plager and Caroline and Amanda Powell; a brother Charles Chorlton of Mystic CT; a sister Ruth Broughton of Ayer, MA and countless lifelong friends.
