Thomas A. Dorgan

September 11, 2021

Obituary

Thomas A. Dorgan, 86, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on September 11, 2021. He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Fitzsimmons) Dorgan, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Tom was born in Brockton and was a lifelong resident of Somerset Village. He was the son of the late Thomas A. Dorgan and Catherine (McNaugh) Dorgan. Tom was employed as a Business Agent for many years with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and also worked for the former Fernandes Supermarkets. Mr. Dorgan had a lifelong passion for fishing and being on the water, something he loved to share and pass down to his children and grandchildren. Tom did not have much need for travel, because he had everything he needed just steps from his house. He could almost always be found on his boat fishing the local waters and was a well known resident of the town. Tom was a true family man and enjoyed every moment he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always put his faith and family before all else and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Tom will be missed by his loving family and countless lifelong friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Marianne Smith and her husband Dr. Richard Smith of Tiverton; Thomas Dorgan of Somerset and Timothy Dorgan and his wife Cheryl of Somerset; grandchildren, Chelsea Dorgan, Eryn Harrington, Caitlin Dorgan, Linzie Dorgan, Kylie Neubauer and Timothy Dorgan; great grandchildren, Tristan and Eamon Harrington and several nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Michael Dorgan and brother of the late John “Jack” Dorgan.
