I was very surprised and sorry to learn of Susan's passing.
We became good friends when I first moved to Fairhaven in the 4th grade. Susan had such a sweet personality, and a pleasant smile. I have many great memories of the good times we shared....playing in her back yard, day long visits to "the camp" in Lakeville from time to time. We enjoyed going swimming, hiking through the surrounding woods to pick and sample teaberries, and, ice skating in the winter at the camp! ....Susan certainly enjoyed the great out doors!
One memory that comes to mind is a time in 8th grade we thought we'd open a Christmas Shoppe in her garage. Susan and I thought bayberry candles would sell really well, so we picked about a bucket full on a couple of different occasions...we finally found instructions on making the candles and realized how many pounds we'd need...way to many as it turned out, so we gave up on the whole idea!!!
We walked together to Fairhaven High School together some mornings and chatted about assignments, our favorite teachers, and any other thing that crossed our minds.I recently went through old photos and found pictures from a Halloween party that we had in her families play room down cellar on Oxford Street.
As our lives went in their separate directions after High School, we didn't see much of one another anymore, but the memories are still there to look back on and savor.....May she rest in peace.
