BERKLEY-Steven C. "Rappy" Rapoza, 73, passed away a short battle with lung and bone cancer on April 28, 2022. He was the loving husband of 44 years to Ann-Marie (Dutra) Rapoza.
Steven was born in Fall River and spent his entire life in Berkley. He was the son of the late Gilbert S. Rapoza and Mildred L. (O’Brien) Rapoza.
Mr. Rapoza served his country honorably in the US Army as a helicopter door gunner during the Vietnam War. He along with his family operated Hill & Hollow Farm in Berkley for almost 50 years. Steve served the Town of Berkley on the Board of Health for over 40 years and was also a longtime member of the National Tractor Pullers Association and the MA Farm Bureau. Steve was a true farmer his entire life and, in the past, he enjoyed traveling the country with his daughter to barrel racing competitions and spending time at tractor pulls with his late son Joey. Most mornings, Steve could be found sharing town wisdom with his friends over coffee at Dunkin Donuts. He will be fondly remembered as a hardworking man, full of knowledge in local history, who cherished the time he spent with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Mary Ann Rapoza and boyfriend Dallas Brightman of Berkley, Michele Whitney and her husband Daniel of Northfield and Theresa Marie (Rapoza) Fournier and her husband Robert of Somerset; grandchildren: Amanda Whitney-Holmes DVM and her husband Tyler, Daniele Whitney, Bethany-Anne Brown and Katarina Marie Brown and fiancé Douglas Tavares, and great granddaughter Kayley Roselena Tavares. He was predeceased by his son Joseph G Rapoza on May 31,2020
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 4-7pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 9am from the funeral followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bernard’s Church, Main St., Assonet.
Burial with military honors will follow in Fox Cemetery, Berkley.
