Stephen A. Roy, 71, of Lakeville passed away May 11, 2023 peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Linda C. Roy.
Born and raised in Somerset, he was the son of the late Arthur and Theresa Roy, and was a 1969 graduate of Somerset High School.
Stephen retired from Comcast Spotlight where he produced television commercials for local businesses. Prior to that he had his own media production company and, in his early years, worked as a phlebotomist at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
A singer, songwriter and musician, Steve played bass and recorded music with the Maggie Band, who recorded at Sound City studios in California, and spent time playing in London. Steve later played bass for Slow Drive which recorded his song “Santa Ana Wind”. He regularly played in music jams at the Belmont Club in Fall River and the former Pottersville Pub in Somerset.
Besides his wife, Stephen is survived by a daughter Cailin Roy (Mark Duarte), a son Liam Roy and their mother Colleen Donnelly; a son MacArthur Roy, a stepson Tom Stark and their mother Sharon Roy; grandsons Rowan and Rhys Duarte; Linda’s children Colleen Machado (Daniel) and their son Gage; Ian Allardice (Erica) and their children Kailee, Rylan and Anton.
He is also survived by sister Kathleen Gunning (Gregory Ruest) of Estero, FL; sister Elaine Thibault (Leonard) of Swansea; brother Donald Roy (Deborah) of Trinity, FL; sister Patricia Albin (John) of Swansea; and brother Michael Roy (Deb Devlin) of Hudson, NH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Monday, May 15th from 4-7 p.m., at the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset.
