Shirley A. “Lee” Rogers, 80, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 after five weeks of serious health issues. Shirley was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the late Reginald C. Lewis and Gwendolyn (Camp) Lewis.
Shirley was a graduate of Middleboro High School and was the Office Manager for Dr. C. Nason Burden for 34 years. Dr. Burden was family. She then went on to work at Morton Hospital and Medical Center for 17 years where she built the Central Scheduling department from the ground up. Mrs. Rogers was also the former co-owner of Dave’s Lounge in Assonet, Cyr’s Restaurant in Middleboro and Rose Tobacco in Taunton.
Shirley loved Country Music and was a previous member of the Down East Country Dancers, she was also a member of the Morton Hospital Retirees group. Shirley planned an annual gathering of the group who worked at 68 Church Green in Taunton. She loved to get together with her friends. Shirley loved to visit Ogunquit, Maine and for many years she visited Nova Scotia regularly as this was where her Dad was from. Shirley was a former member of the Raynham Stone Church. Shirley was also a big Patriots and Tom Brady fan!
Mrs. Rogers leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Michael Chaves of Leesburg, FL. She is also survived by her sisters Gwendolyn Jarvis (Donald) of Leesburg, FL and Gail Fuller (Robert) of Middleboro. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Vickie, grandchildren Jessica, Staci and Davy, great-grandchildren Jesse, Traci, Eli and Kaden and a great-great grandson Dominic all of North Carolina. Her great-great-granddaughter Leona was born on April 29th, 2021. She leaves many nieces and nephews and her god-daughter Amanda Estrella and her sweet little great-great nephew Andrew Estrella who was the light of her life. Shirley also leaves many close friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly. She was the former wife of David Rogers and was predeceased by son David.
All services will be held privately per family request. Arrangements entrusted to Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton.
