Shelly Ann Costa, 56, passed away on January 31, 2023 at Milford Hospital. She was the loving wife of John A. Costa, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.
Shelly was born in Taunton and was the daughter of Delores (Mendonca) DeCosta and the late Norman F. DeCosta.
Shelly was a graduate of Taunton High School and Bristol Community College. She served as a longtime administrative assistant to Thaddeus “Ted” Strojny, both during his time as a local attorney and during his time as mayor of Taunton and later worked for Bristol Community College. Shelly loved to stay active and she enjoyed camping, biking and kayaking and was a member of the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association. A longtime member of the Martini Mamma’s, Shelly could always be found spending time with her friends, at the beach, playing volleyball, and she never passed up an opportunity to spend her time with those that mattered most. She will be remembered best as a wonderful and caring wife and mother, a vivacious and free spirt. Shelly was always the life of the party and a true comfort to those around her.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her children, Danielle Costa of Dighton and Justin Costa of New Bedford; brother, Steven M DeCosta and his wife Judith of Taunton; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Alicia and Steven F. DeCosta; great nieces Charlotte and Rosalie DeCosta and countless lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 4-8pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton.
Cremation to follow.
