Sandra L. Butterworth

Sandra L. Butterworth, 76, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 21, 2023 after a brief illness in the Heatherwood Nursing and Rehab in Newport, Rhode Island.  

Born in Fall River, she is the daughter to the late Thomas B. Butterworth and the late Wanda “Kitty” (Kwiatkowski) Butterworth.  Sandra attended Somerset schools and graduated from Somerset High School in 1964.  She went on to attend Johnson and Whales College and Bristol Community College.  She then volunteered to serve in the United States Army and graduated from Basic Training in Alabama.  Sandra went on to work for New England Telephone Company, now known as Verizon for 27 years.  She retired in 1994 and went on to volunteer with the Fall River Auxilliary Police and served as a Constable.  She then volunteered for the Somerset Police Department as an office worker.  Sandra was a club member of the Fall River Elks Lodge #118, the former St. Annes Fraternity and the Somerset Lions Club.  

Sandra leaves behind her brother, Thomas Butterworth and his wife Donna of Somerset.  Her nieces Jennifer Butterworth of Somerset and Jill Heroux and her husband John of Somerset.  Her grand niece Desiree, her grand nephews, Darren and Julian.  Sandra also leaves behind her beloved friends, Ron Gardner and Debbie Gagnon. Sandra is preceded in death by her sister Linda Schofield. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm the Hathaway Community home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street Somerset, MA 02726.  Burial will be private.
