Obituary

Robert (Bob) H. Whittemore, 83 of Taunton, Massachusetts, beloved husband for 59 years to Jane Marie (Bishop) Whittemore, passed away after a heroic fight against COVID-19 on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born in Taunton, MA on January 5, 1938, he was the son of Anita (Whittemore) Roman and his loving stepfather, Edward Roman, son of Walter Whittemore and brother to the late Paul J. Whittemore. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bob was generous and kind hearted, and had an infectious personality. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back if needed. He had a strong faith in God as a longtime member of Saint Mary’s Church. He was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School ~ Class of 1956. Bob had a passion for sports, horse racing and mentoring his grandchildren. He could be frequently be found at the ice rink in the upper stadium watching his granddaughter and grandson skating or his son refereeing. He loved coaching his kids and grandchildren (from the sidelines), was an honored three sport athlete, graduating from Coyle Cassidy, and served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine. A devoted family man, there was nothing that brought Bob more joy than spending time with his family. In addition to his devoted wife Jane, Bob will be forever missed by his three children, Scott Whittemore, Robyn Whittemore, and Todd Whittemore and his three adoring grand-children Kori, Garrett and Kyle.
