It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Robert D. Hodgson, 69, of Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Robert "Bob" passed away on May 23, 2021 in the care of his Hospice Team at Brandon Woods of New Bedford following numerous complications to his health.
Born in Fall River on July 22, 1951, he was the son of Henry M. and Dorothy F. (Roberts) Hodgson. He is survived by his parents, Henry and Dorothy; his sister, Donna L. Cambra of Dixfield, Maine; his brother, David M. Hodgson and wife, Joy, of Dixfield, Maine; his youngest sister, Debra J. Aucoin and husband, Thomas, of Brewer, Maine; his nieces Milissa New, Caryn Burgess, Allyson and Erin Aucoin and his nephew, Allen Hodgson.
Bob had a great love of music, his dog “Tippy”, going to the movies, flea market outings, dinning out, and the Boston Red Sox. In his younger years, he rode his bike or walked for miles each day in the Fall River area and regularly visited his friends. Every Friday evening, he would go ice skating at the ice arena in Fall River. He also worked as a Herald Newspaper carrier for many years.
During the last 16 years, Bob had been a resident of a private group home provided to him by CMHS at Dartmouth Woods. He thrived during his stay at the group home and was able to travel to Florida and Maine to visit family, as well as trips to Boston and elsewhere. He was given the opportunity to do the many things that he enjoyed in his life and was happy to remain in the Fall River area.
Bob's family wishes to thank the staff at CMHS who treated Bob as family and were so kind and compassionate to his needs. They did a stupendous job and he loved each and every one of them! Special thanks to Ted TulI, his long distance travel companion, Joyce Demotta, his 'take me out to the movies' friend, Jen Baptista who brought him to Boston to see the Red Sox, Deb Kacterie who took him to his favorite record store in Somerset, Annette Agrella who prepared his most memorable meals, Addy Ribeiro for always being there for Bob and his family, and of course, Crystal Jordan who coordinated all the CMHS adventures.
We'd also like to thank the Hospice staff for their compassion during his final days.
