Richard Warren, PhD, 80, of Rehoboth and previously resided in Laconia, New Hampshire passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of sixty-two years to Linda L. (Towers) Warren. Richard was born in Fall River, the son of the late Bertrand and Ruth (Cook) Warren. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School class of 1960. Mr. Warren then earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bryant College in1964, a Master’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College in 1973 and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Connecticut in 1980. While at UCONN Richard was a Charles Stewart Mott Fellow. Mr. Warren taught for the Tiverton School Department, Portsmouth School Department. He then was a principal for the Fall River School Department at the Doran Annex (Project Follow Through ) then at Hope and Clayville Elementary Schools in Scituate, Rhode Island and then became the Assistant Superintendent of the Bourne Public School department. Mr. Warren became the Superintendent of the Dartmouth School department for several years and then for the Towns of Mansfield, Ayer and Franklin Public School Departments, retiring in 2002. While he worked and into retirement Richard was involved with school accreditation and evaluation for international schools. He traveled to many countries for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Richard was the past chairperson of SHARE the Society for Human Advancement for Rehabilitative Engineering for over forty years at UMASS Dartmouth. Richard was also a consultant for Lyle Kirtman for many years. He also served as the Chairperson of the Trustees at Horton Estates for eight years. Mr. Warren cherished his family and close friends. He also was an avid New England sports fan. Survivors besides his wife are two daughters: Lisa B Deyo and her husband Timothy of Attleboro; Barbara L. Canuel and her husband Edward of Somerset; four grandchildren: Stephen Deyo, Emily Canuel, Sarah Deyo and Julia Canuel; a sister: Priscilla Greene and her husband Vaughn of St. Augustine, FL; along with many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours for Mr. Warren will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 4-7pm in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 11am in the funeral home and will also be live streamed. Burial will be privately held at a later date.
