Raymond C. Holtzclaw, 84, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2020. He was the husband of the late Alice (Raposa) Holtzclaw.
Raymond was born in Carmi, Illinios and was the son of the late Raymond Holtzclaw and Lorena (McCarty) Holtzclaw.
Raymond grew up in Illinois and went on to serve his country honorably in the US Navy for 20 years. After his discharge from the Navy, Ray settled in New England and went on to work in maintenance with the Bristol County School System for many years until his retirement. Ray enjoyed his time working at the Pottersville School and South Elementary in Somerset. Ray enjoyed reconnecting with his friends over coffee at the Newport Naval Base as well as staying on top of current events in the news. He was a longtime member of the Tin Can Sailors, an avid bowler at Holiday Lanes in Somerset and enjoyed a good crossword puzzles. Ray never left the house without his thermos full of coffee. He will be remembered as a kind, quiet and reserved man, who would do anything for his family.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Lori Hall of Middletown, RI, Bobbie Jo Martineau of Fall River and Jennifer McHugh and her husband Patrick of Little Compton, RI; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Susan Evans and Glen and Daniel Holtzclaw.
His funeral will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, at 9am, from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, in St. Patrick Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick, Cemetery, Somerset.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 12-3pm, in the funeral home.
