Obituary
NEW BEDFORD-Raymond E. Fortin, 87, of New Bedford passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Jeanne (Brunette) Fortin.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edward L. And Yvonne (Benoit) Fortin, he grew up in Fairhaven and settled in New Bedford 66 years ago. He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Ray served in the Army National Guard from 1953-1961 and he and his wife were the proprietors of New Bedford Roofing and Sheet Metal. He loved his dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; a sister, Laura Andrews of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. Ray was the brother of the late Lawrence Fortin, Irene Mello and Claire Perry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday September 9, 2022 at 11 am at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church followed by interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
