Raphelina "Rae" Ann (Candelmo) Gallant, 88, passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness, on February 14, 2021.
Rae was born in Bristol, Rhode Island and was the daughter of the late Pasqualina (Sullo)
and Dominic Candelmo who settled in Bristol from Italy in the 1920s.
Rae was the youngest of her beloved siblings (all deceased), sister Katherine Cincogrono,
and brothers Natale and Annunzio Candelmo.
Rae and her husband, James, raised their family in Rehoboth and Dighton, Massachusetts.
They also lived in Fall River and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. For much of the last 30 years
she was mainly a resident of Attleboro. Rae was a homemaker and loved being surrounded by family,
sharing photos, food and lively conversations. Rae was happiest when visiting her childhood
walks along the water in Bristol, RI.
She is survived by her husband, James, and her children, Catherine Gallant and spouse John Jacobs of New York City,
David Gallant and spouse Kerstin of Sharon, MA and Linda Gallant and companion George Mansfield of Attleboro.
Her son Stephen Gallant died in 2000 and is survived by his wife Alice of Garden City, NY.
She had 11 grandchildren: Alina and John Jacobs (New York, NY), Zachary Casso and wife Christine (Stamford, CT),
Ryan, Kevin, and Caitlin Gallant (New York, NY), Christopher Rogers and wife Shannon (Milford, MA),
Sarah Griffis and husband Nathaniel (Westborough, MA), Laila Nashat (Saugus, MA), Maria and Elena Gallant (Sharon, MA).
Rae looked forward to meeting two great-grandchildren, Bryce Ray Rogers and Claudia Rose Casso.
She also had many nieces and nephews.
Lastly, Rae is also survived by her very best friends Ann (Rose) Egan of Rehoboth (60 years),
Dennis Hajduk of North Attleboro (50 years), and Alan Casso (40 years).
A memorial service and celebration will be held at a time and date yet to be determined.
