Pearl A. (Lammers) Wixon, 82, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 13, 2021 after a brief illness at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Chief RedBlanket, “Clarence M. Wixon, Jr.” Chief of the Nemasket Wampanoag Nation.
Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Alexander B. and Nannie G. (Boardley) Lammers, she grew up in New Bedford and lived in Boston for 38 years until returning to New Bedford in 1995. Pearl attended New Bedford High School and worked as a manager for Stop and Shop in Boston for many years and later the Acushnet Company. After retirement she worked in the daycare program at the New Bedford Vocational High School.
Pearl enjoyed reading, trips to the casino, R & B Music and loved her dog’s. She was a proud member of the Mashpee Wompanoag Tribe.
She is survived by her children, David Nacoma Wixon and his companion Linda Roderick of New Bedford, Daniel Pometacomet Wixon and his companion Roberta DePina of New Bedford, Donna Louise Howard and her husband Brion of Conway, NH, Stephen C.M. Wixon and his wife Judith of New Bedford and Nathan Davison of ME; three brothers, Harvey Lammers and his wife Louise of New Bedford, David Lammers and his wife Anne of Boston, James Lammers and his companion Debbie Costa of New Bedford and the late Earl Lammers and his wife Consola of FL; two sisters. Patricia Victor and Edith Lammers both of New Bedford; 20 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wixon was the mother of the late Clarence Manter Wixon, III.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm in the Donaghy-Hathaway Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford. A procession will gather at 10am Friday, March 19, 2021 at the funeral home, with a graveside service at 11am in Acushnet Cemetery. For memorial register please visit, www.hathawayfunerals.com.
