Noella B. Fredricks, 96, passed away on September 28, 2021 in Spartanburg, SC. She was the wife of the late William Fredricks and former wife of the late Russell Ayers.
Noella was born in New Bedford and was the daughter of the late Gregoire Bessette and Angelina (Brun) Bessette.
Mrs. Fredricks was a longtime resident of Fall River and was employed at the former Union Hospital and served as the City Health and Food Inspector for many years until her retirement. Noella was a talented musician who enjoyed playing and teaching piano, violin and organ to countless students at the Music Mansion. She also played the violin in the Barrington Senior Center Band. Mrs Fredricks also spent much of her time volunteering with the Department of Social Services later in life. Always one to keep busy and on the move, Noella enjoyed being out and about, shopping, baking and crochet. She will be fondly remembered by her family as a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother, who lit up the room and was always the life of the party.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Berube and her husband Alan of South Carolina and Gerald Ayers, Sr. of Fall River; brother, Roger Bessette and his wife Betsy of Berkley; grandchildren, Timothy Berube, Krystyna Ayers, Jayme Berube, Jessica Fredricks and Jennifer Berube and Robert Ayers and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Robert E. Ayers and Lisa Ann Fredricks, grandmother of the late Gerald Ayers, Jr. And sister of the late Normand Bessette and his wife Toshiko, Lillyann Clement and her husband James; and Aline Santos and her husband Edmund.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 8-9:30 in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St. Fall River. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10am in Holy Name Church, Hanover St, Fall River.
Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
