Maurice Vianney Lauzier, Jr., 80, of Fall River, Massachusetts, died peacefully on April 28, 2022 at his Fall River home with his family by his side. Mr. Lauzier was born in Fall River, the son of Maurice V. and Marie Antoinette (Canuel) Lauzier, Sr.
He graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School High School in 1960 where he was a four sport athlete and letterman where he ran track, played basketball, baseball and football under the legendary Luke Urban. Mr. Lauzier was a radio talk show host personality known as Moe Lauzier with WSAR- Fall River, WHJJ- Providence, and WRKO- Boston. His fans lived all across New England and he continued his work with his blog “Issues of the Day” online after retirement. He was active in sports, coaching throughout his adult life most notably in basketball and baseball. Mr. Lauzier was a baseball enthusiast with his allegiance to the Red Sox. He always enjoyed basketball and football, too. Following the Patriots and Celtics was a perennial activity, as well as many college teams. He is survived by his wife of more than 51 years, Helen (Harrington) Lauzier, children Georgette (Robert) Keller of Long Island, New York, Carol-Anne (Ed Blackburn) Lauzier of Tiverton, RI, Sarah (Jon) Rose of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Helene (Timothy) Meyer of New Berlin, Illinois, Arthur Lauzier of Fall River, Massachusetts; eight grand-daughters: Grace Keller, Nina Keller, Alexa Swist, Rowan West, Ella Blackburn, Lauren (Yuri) Sokayev, Maegan Rose, and Sophia Lauzier, and two great-grandchildren: Maeve Keller-Tagliaferro and Leo Sokayev, brother: Michel (Butch) Lauzier of Johnston, Rhode Island, and sister & God-daughter, Eloise Carrier of Cranston, Rhode Island. Calling Hours for Mr. Lauzier will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 4-7pm in the Hathaway Home for Funerals,, 1813 Robeson St, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 10am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Directly to the Church. Burial will be privately held at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery.
