Mary Lou (Barcellos) Cavanaugh, 81, of Middleboro, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, at the Nemasket Healthcare Center.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Frank Barcellos, Sr. and Mary Jane (Fletcher) Barcellos, she grew up in Fairhaven and lived in Connecticut prior to returning to the area. She had been a resident of Nemasket since 2006. Mary Lou was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and the Truesdale School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at the Truesdale Hospital in Fall River for 15 years.
She is survived by her son, Raymond M. Cavanaugh of New Bedford; son in law, Troy DeMoranville of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Lindsey DeMoranville of Norfolk, VA, Madison Anderson and her husband Nathaniel of Fall River and Ethan DeMoranville of Lakeville; a great granddaughter, Reagan Catherine Anderson; two brothers, Frank Barcellos and his wife Joan of Fairhaven and Michael Barcellos and his wife Nancy of Spring Hill, FL; two sisters, Betty Ann Mendonca and her husband Maurice and Frances Lopes all of Fairhaven; a sister in law, Barbara Barcellos Raposa of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Lou was the mother of the late Catherine M. DeMoranville, sister of the late Peter F. Barcellos and sister in law of the late David Lopes.
Her family is so grateful for the compassion and kindness that Mary Lou received through the years from her Nemasket and Hospice family. Donations may be made in her name to the Nemasket Healthcare Center, 314 Marion Rd., Middleboro, MA 02346, attn; Sharon Gosling, ADC Activities Director.
