Maria L. Pereira, 83, passed away on March 27, 2021. She was the wife of the late Antero Pereira.
Maria was born in São Miguel, Azores and was the daughter of the late Manuel R. Torres and Maria J. (Aguiar) Torres.
Maria spent her early life in Azores before immigrating to Massachusetts with her family in the late 1960’s. She settled and raised her family in Attleboro. Maria was employed with Texas Instruments for 30 years until her retirement and was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church. Maria dedicated her life to her faith, family and enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating cakes for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing - her most treasured time was weekly Sunday dinner gatherings at her home and the many, many Christmas Eve’s spent surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed traveling when she could and visiting relatives in the Azores. Maria will be remembered as a strong, loving, kind and fun loving woman, who would do anything for those in need.
She is survived by her children, Antonio Pereira, Raul Pereira, Luis Pereira, Antero Pereira, Joseph Pereira, Maria Poirier, Anna Dafulas and John Pereira; daughters-in-law, Edissa McHale-Pereira, Renee Pereira, Donna Colvin and Diane Pereira; sons-in-law, James Poirier and John Dafulas; siblings; Zulmira Soares, Maria Lima, Lisette Costa and Jose Torres; twenty two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late IIda Benevides and Luis Torres.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4-7pm in the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 St. John Pl., Attleboro.
Burial to follow in St. John Cemetery, Attleboro.
