Obituary

Maria H.(Baptista) Pacheco, 94 of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.  She was the wife to the late Fernando Pacheco. She was born on the island of Sao Miguel Azores the daughter of the late Francisco and Angelina (Correia) Baptista.  She came to the United States in 1969 and raised her family with her husband.  She took great pride in raising her children, keeping a warm and loving home and sewing. Survivors are her children: Bertha Ferreira and her husband Tony of New Bedford; Veronica Johnson and her husband Danny of New Bedford; Anna Jorge and her husband Victor of South Dartmouth; a son Fernando J. Pacheco of New Bedford; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grand children and three great great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She is the mother of the late Fatima DaSilva; sister of the late Laudilina Claudio and the late Marino Baptista. Calling Hours for Mrs. Pacheco will be held  on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm in the  Donaghy New Day Funeral & Cremation Care , 465 County Street New Bedford, with A Prayer Service following at 12noon,  family and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in  Rural Cemetery, 149 Dartmouth Street New Bedford.
