Margaret Hodgson, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 1, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Ralph G. Hodgson, Sr.
Margaret was born in Taunton and was the daughter of the late James Travese and Lena (Morris) Traverse.
Margaret was employed as a mental health coordinator at the Paul A. Dever School for many years until her retirement, a job she truly loved. Margaret was also a longtime communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton. She was an avid and talented gardener and had a passion for crafts and quilting. Margaret also enjoyed cooking and looked forward to annual trips to York Beach in Maine. She cherished the many family movie nights and gatherings at her home. Margaret’s door was always open to anyone and she will be fondly remembered as a kind and welcoming woman, and loving mother and grandmother who was always thinking of others.
She is survived by her children, Kristine M. Coute and her husband Thomas of Taunton, Ralph G. Hodgson, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Brockton, James M. Hodgson and his wife Gina of Lakeville, Daniel S. Hodgson and his wife Valerie of Berkley, Douglas J. Hodgson of Taunton, and Barbara and Brian Buettel of Taunton; brothers, James Traverse and his wife Marilyn of Dennis, MA and William Traverse and his wife Carol of Taunton; grandchildren, Sam, Chelsea, Taylor, Christopher, Amanda, Ellie, Kyle, Abigail, Jenna, Allison, Mitch and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Rory and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Traverse and Mary Arnold.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 4-7pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9amfrom the funeral home, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 19 Kilmer Ave.
Burial will follow in the Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
Contributions in Mrs. Hodgson’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center, Boston.
