Manuel Medeiros

Obituary

Manuel Medeiros, 88, a resident of Somerset for many years, passed away unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of Marilyn (Rogers) Medeiros, formerly Kornegay, for 36 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John Medeiros and the late Antonina (Costa) Medeiros, he worked on the family farm in Swansea from the age of 9 until its sale last year to the Town of Swansea for use as a sports complex. For many of those years, he was a co-owner with his brother John. Manny served in the US Airforce for four years during the Korean War from 1952-1956. He also worked for the Massachusetts Mosquito Control for 15 years retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of St. John of God Church, Somerset.
If a man’s life is judged by his love & happiness for other people then he becomes the true example we should all strive to be. A special thank you to Dr. Marc Theroux for all the love & support that you have always given him. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Jeffrey Kornegay and his fiancé Gail Petit of Somerset; a daughter, Sharon Kornegay Shepard and her companion Jimmie Hunter of Swansea; a daughter-in-law, Kim Kornegay and her fiancé Joe Castro of Somerset; five grandchildren, Kyle, Brendon, Amanda, Shelby and Lilly; a great granddaughter, Scarlett and many nieces and nephews. He was also the widower of Nancy (Imbeault) Medeiros; and father of the late Stephen Kornegay; brother of the late John Medeiros and the late Elsie Forneiro; and father-in-law of the late Paul Shepard.
