Lucille C. (Michon) Medeiros, 79, of South Dartmouth passed away at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 after a period of declining health. She was the loving wife of 57 years to the late Robert J. “Bob” Medeiros.
Born and raised in Acushnet, daughter of the late Leo and Clemence (Plaud) Michon, she lived in the town most of her life prior to moving to South Dartmouth 15 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
A graduate of Fairhaven High School, Lucille had worked in the Acushnet school system in the cafeteria for many years. She enjoyed the beach, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson.
She is survived by her children, Robert S. Medeiros and his wife Lori-Ann of Westport, Steven L. Medeiros and his companion Karyn Souza of New Bedford and Deborah A. DeOliveira of Mattapoisett; six grandchildren, Sarah Fredette and her husband A.J., Seth DeOliveira, Nathan Medeiros, Katherine Roy and her husband Morgan, Jordan Medeiros and Zachary Medeiros; a great grandson, Brixton Fredette; her dedicated brother, Larry Michon of New Bedford and many nieces and nephews. Lucille was the sister of the late Eugene Michon and Doris Duff.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Community Nurse and Hospice, especially Patty Martin for the wonderful care given to Lucille during her illness.
In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8pm in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10AM in St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
