Lorraine Mae Pacheco passed away peacefully on July 29th, her 90th birthday. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of Grace Mae Lynch and Antonio Francisco Figueredo and was predeceased by her siblings Lincoln, Emily, George, Geraldine, Tony, and Gracie. She was married to her beloved Joseph “Buddy” Pacheco (deceased) for 62 years amazing years. Lorraine was a graduate of the Taunton High School class of 1949 and worked for the City of Taunton as a clerk for more than 30 years. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Raynham and St. Paul’s of Taunton. At St. Paul’s Church she served as Treasurer of the Ladies Guild and was a choir member. She was not the most skilled singer, but she was a very enthusiastic about her singing.
Lorraine deeply loved her family and always was there with hugs, kisses, encouragement, support, food, “clothing finds”, and laughs. She always brought joy to those around her and lit up any room she was in. Lorraine loved exercising, swimming, camping, and going for long bicycle rides with her husband Buddy. She also loved to ride along the Cape Cod Canal and camp at Scusset Beach with her family. One of her greatest joys during her last few years was spending time with her grandson David. He was a great comfort to her and she enjoyed taking walks and playing cards with him at her assisted living home.
Lorraine had a great passion for health and fitness and was taking spinning classes at the Raynham Athletic Club into her mid-eighties. She also loved to take long walks/talks with her friends. There was never a hill or staircase she wouldn’t climb or a push-up challenge she would turn down. Lorraine was a runner and participated in many local road races as well as the Bonne Bell/Tufts 10K road race in Boston. She was very competitive, but was more interested in making new friends during the race and encouraging others. Lorraine could have been a super-hero based on her physical strength, but her real super-power was her capacity to love and care for other people; family, friends and strangers alike.
Lorraine is survived by her beloved daughter Carol Sullivan and husband Michael, son Mark Pacheco and is predeceased by daughter Lisa Sturgill. She is the grandmother of David, Michael, Kyle, Joseph, Zachary, and was close to her great-grandson, Liam. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and was particularly close to Neal and George Figueredo. She is also survived by best friends Carol Albert and Theresa King whose life-long friendships meant the world to her. She loved her many friends at the Raynham Athletic Club and Taunton City Hall and greatly appreciated all the love and support she received from the residents and staff at the All-American Assisted Living home.
