Obituary

Leo E. Forand died peacefully in his home on May 5, 2022 at the age of 82.  

Born and raised in Acushnet, Leo was the son of Ernest L. and Florence (Routhier) Forand. In his childhood, Leo was a decorated Boy Scout & Eagle Scout from Local Troop 37.  He was an NRA Ranger, Junior Rifleman and expert Marksman.  He graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1957.

Leo served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964, during the Vietnam War. Shortly after leaving the armed forces, he moved to New York City where he worked as an IBM technician.  He later began his own typewriter repair company which he ran for many years.  Leo is the former husband of Rosa (Marques) Ferraira.

Leo is survived by his sister Jeanne Losack of Rosenberg, TX; his brother, Roger Forand and his wife Julie of Marietta, GA, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 201 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI.  Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven.  For memorial register please visit, www.hathawayfunerals.com. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
