Kenneth O. Bosworth, 88, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on February 5, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Nancy (Woodward) Bosworth with whom he shared 66 years of married life.
The son of the late Benjamin and Emily (Overwood) Bosworth, Kenneth was born on August 5, 1932 in Fall River, MA. He grew up in Barrington, R.I., graduated from Barrington High School and studied at Rhode Island School of Design.
In 1982 Ken, together with his wife Nancy, founded The Bosworth Company, a manufacturer of pumps and valves which continues to operate today. Prior to forming The Bosworth Company, Ken’s career had taken him from design and manufacturing engineer in the field of hydraulics and process control equipment at the G. W. Dahl Company in Bristol, RI to General Manager of Dart Union Company in Providence RI.
Ken was a longtime member of the First Christian Congregational Church in Swansea. His Masonic affiliations included Pioneer Lodge, A.F. & A.M., of Somerset, MA and Washington Lodge in Warren, RI. He served on the Swansea Housing Authority for 5 years and the Swansea Zoning Board of Appeals for 30 years.
Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, ballroom dancing, traveling, spending time outdoors and driving his antique cars.
Ken will be remembered as a kind, loving, thoughtful and intelligent man with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband and father who cared deeply for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan A. Bosworth and her husband Douglas L. Reilly of N. Kingstown, RI, and Diane B. Kitchin and her husband Steven H. Kitchin of Swansea,grandchildren Nathan Bosworth Reilly and Catherine Woodward Reilly. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert M. Bosworth.
