Obituary

Katherine Marie McGovern, 63, passed away on November 7, 2021.

Katherine was born in Attleboro and was the daughter of the late Charles Hanlon and Cynthia Tiebault Hanlon.

Katherine was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and was a highly skilled artist and craftsperson. Recognized by her friends and family as a prolific designer and seamstress, she was known for her generosity and willingness in sharing her talents with others. In life, she handmade clothes for her children and grandchildren, conducted workshops at a local orphanage in Cold Spring, Kentucky as well as at the Main Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Kentucky. She also accompanied a church mission trip to work with children at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. Katherine was a loving and devoted wife and mother who cherished her children and grandchildren above all else in her life.

She is survived by her mother, Cynthia Hanlon, a brother, Charles Hanlon, Jr. and his wife Debra Hanlon, her husband Thomas McGovern, her lifelong friends Nora Gafford and Kathy Barton of Attleboro, Kenneth and Jean Davidson of Pennsylvania, children, Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shaqwanaof Melbourne, Kentucky, Quiayawnda of Cincinnati, and Alysa of Las Vegas, Nevada, grandchildren, Addie McGovern of Las Vegas, Nevada, Theodore Cipriano-McGovern of Florence, Kentucky and a forthcoming granddaughter, A’maya Grace of her daughter, Shaqwana McGovern.
