Judith Fitz-Simon


Judith Fitz-Simon, 82, long time resident of Fairhaven, Ma passed away peacefully   with family by her side, at her most recent home at Keystone Place of Buzzards Bay Ma. She was the wife of the late Daniel F. Moretti. She was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late John A Fitz- Simon and the late Flora (Barnes) Fitz–Simon.  

Judy grew up in Brockton and Cranston RI.  Prior to moving to her most recent home at Keystone Place of Buzzards Bay, she was a long-time resident of Fairhaven, MA and had also lived in Cranston, RI, Keene, NH, Liverpool, NY and Germany. 

She leaves a daughter, Jacqueline M. Zora and her husband Timothy Zora of Buzzards Bay; Judy was the mother also of pre-deceased son, Daniel F. Moretti, Jr. and was the grandmother of Raymond R Sprague III of Braintree, Ryan A. Sprague, married to Christine Sprague and her pre-deceased grandson, Raymond R Sprague Jr.  She was the great grandmother to Daniel F Sprague and Evangeline A. Sprague all of Bangor, ME. 

She was the sister of the late Thomas A Fitz-Simon and the sister-in-law to his wife Zita of Cranston, RI,  also the sister to late James E. Fitz-Simon and his wife Arlene Fitz-Simon of Keene, NH and the late Jerrold V. Fitz-Simon of Keene, NH, the late John A Fitz-Simon Jr. and his wife Marjorie Maker Fitz-Simon. She was also the sister to Joyce Townsend of Many LA. and sister-in-law to her late husband Jim. 

Judy was the sister-in-law to Gloria Moretti Laurie and her husband William also the late David C. Moretti of Cranston, RI and sister-in-law to Marylou Moretti of Ohio and Sharon C. Moretti of Smithfield, RI. 

Judy was the niece of the late Ellen F. Barnes of Providence, the late Alfred A. Barnes, the late Josephine Greene and the late Joseph P. Greene. 

Judy was the aunt to Katherine Jordan, Jill Fitz-Simon McBride, Susan Fitz-Simon, Judy Sievers Mills Michelle Whitaker, Tina Fitz-Simon, Vincent Fitz-Simon, Laurie Riley, Eddie J. Fitz-Simon, John A. Fitz-Simon, Kristen Merritt, Thomas A Fitz-Simon jr. David C. Moretti jr. Joseph Moretti, Gina Beck, Karen Laurie, William E. Laurie III, and the late Jimmie J. Townsend, James E. Fitz-Simon jr and his sister Julie Willette. 

Judy also leaves many grand nieces, grandnephews and great grand nieces, nephews, and wonderful cousins. 

Judy very much enjoyed her pets Muffin, Mittens and Papi, who will be placed at rest with her, along with her son Dannie. 

Often, Judy would say that she was blessed with the best family and friends, that she always looked forward to seeing and claimed she met many wonderful people along the way. She would say, “You cannot ask for more than that God has been very good to me”.


The calling hours will be on Sunday, September 12th from 2-4pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St Fairhaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 13th 10 am at St Mary's Catholic Church 440 Main St Fairhaven Ma. with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
