Joseph S. Amaral, 84, of Acushnet passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of fifty-nine years to Rita (O’Grady) Amaral. Joseph was born in Dartmouth the son of the late Antone and Mary (Rego) Amaral. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and then went on to serve his country honorably with the Untied States Army during the Korean War with the 101st Airborne. Mr. Amaral worked for his family business Farmer’s Dairy and then for American Biltrite Rubber Company, Chamberlain Manufacturing, Borg Warner Division of New Bedford gear and Dartmouth Tire. Joseph cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, landscaping, tending to his gardens, a good claim boil, tinkering around the house in Acushnet and bread runs on Sunday’s and vacation with his wife and family. Survivors besides his wife are a daughter: Susan Tetreault and her husband Ken of Acushnet; two sons: Joseph W. Amaral and his wife Kendall of Swansea; Kenneth Amaral of New Bedford; five grandchildren: Jonathan Amaral, Jordan Amaral, Brayden Tetreault, Riley Tetreault and Mayson Amaral; four great grandchildren: Liam, Karter, Jordan and Mason; three brothers: Jim Amaral of Dartmouth; Gilly Amaral of Dartmouth; and David Amaral of New River, AZ; along with many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Karen Amaral, grandfather of the late Austin Tetreault; brother of the late John Amaral, Tony Amaral, Freddy Amaral and Manny Amaral. All Services for Mr. Amaral are Private at the request of the family. A Celebration of Joe’s life will be announced at a later date.
