Obituary
Joseph Machado, Jr., 81, of Westport passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the loving companion of 31 years to Patricia Santos of Westport and the husband of the late Carole (Ventor) Machado.
Born and raised in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph and Marianna (Santos) Machado, he lived in Fairhaven and Dartmouth prior to moving to Westport nearly 6 years ago. Joe was a presser at the Cliftex Corp for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and writing and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by Patricia; two sons, Lawrence S. Machado and his wife Wendy of Fairhaven and Todd S. Machado and his wife Queenella of Dorchester and a step daughter, Diane M. Cunha and her husband John Cunha, II of Westport; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joe was the brother of the late Lawrence Machado.
