John W. “ Bill” O’Melia, 87 of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of twenty-seven years to Donna M. (Souza) O’Melia. John William was born in Fall River the son of the late John William O’Melia Sr. and Mary (Almeida) O’Melia. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School class of 1954. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corp. Mr. O’Melia worked as a lineman and then a supervisor for Eastern Utilities for thirty-five years, retiring in the late 1990’s. Bill was active with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Fall River. He was an evangelizer and ordained Minister. He enjoyed working on his antique cars, model cars and anything mechanical. Bill loved a good game of horseshoes, cards and being with his spiritual family and close friends. Survivors besides his wife are a daughter: Colleen Halpin and her husband Michael of North Richland Hill, TX; two grandchildren: Erin Halpin and Melissa Knight; five great grandchildren: Caden, Nathan, Mason, Dylan and Matthew. Services for Bill will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 2pm in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 100 North Eastern Avenue, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
