John T. (Jack) Conway Jr., 72, of Assonet, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Julia Conway for 51 years and the proud father of his adored son, Nathan. He loved his family beyond any measure; he took pride in their achievements and tried to protect them from any difficulties. Besides his wife and son, Jack is survived by his three adored granddaughters, Ella Conway, Aria Conway and Harper Conway, and his sisters, Judy Cleary and Betty LaBrode. Jack had the gift of an extended family and a wide circle of dear friends too numerous to list. He always kept all laughing with his sharp wit, interesting stories and tales of his writing
Jack was a writer, an educator, a poet and a musician. He loved all of the arts but was dedicated to the written word. He authored seventeen books, published numerous poems and wrote and played wonderful music. He loved to read, discuss the many ideas he encountered and would always have information about the world around us, or the world he found in the pages of a book. He didn’t love to travel but the places and people he did visit always adored him.
Jack was born in Taunton, MA, the son of the late John Conway Sr. and Irma (Bernacchio) Conway, grew up there, and lived much of his adult life in the Silver City. Jack loved his mixed heritage and regaled all with his stories of Italian food and Irish songs.
Jack also loved gardening and it would honor him to have a rosebush, tree or simple flower planted in his memory.
