We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Hathaway Home for Funerals
Joseph Adelbert Dulude (Al), 98, of Taunton, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at The Arbors Assisted Living Community, surrounded by the constant love and presence of his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of sixty-eight years of the late Shirley L. (Pierce) Dulude. He was also the father of his only child, Gail L. (Dulude) Eddy, who remained the light of his life and primary care giver throughout his final days. Al was born on May 31, 1923 in New Bedford, the son of the late Honore and Virginie (Delude) Dulude.
Mr. Dulude was a graduate of Taunton High School Class of 1941. Through persistence and hard work, he built and grew a successful family business, Dulude Construction, known for several residential and commercial properties in the area. Mr. Dulude became a well-respected member of his community and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Taunton Savings Bank for many of his working years. Along with his wife, Mr. Dulude co-developed Rocky Knoll Estates in Taunton, which together, they grew into a one hundred seventy-seven-unit retirement community.
Al cherished the time he spent with his family, especially at the summer home he built with his wife in Falmouth. He loved boating and spending time enjoying all of the beauty that being by the Cape Cod seashore has to offer, a love and legacy that will live on through his family. He was a life-long member of the Taunton YMCA, and routinely exercised there into his late 80s. Al was also a man of faith and a long-time dedicated member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Taunton. Al formed special connections with everyone who made up his day-to-day life. He had a wonderfully vibrant personality, and he will be truly missed by all.
Survivors are his daughter, Gail L. Eddy and her husband John of Rochester, MA; two grandchildren, Justine E. Abbadessa and her husband Richard of East Bridgewater, MA, and Jason S. Eddy and his wife Laura of East Bridgewater, MA; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Leanna, RJ and Jackson.
