She was the wife of the late Herbert A. Moore, Jr., to whom she was married on August 16, 1952; He passed away January 9, 2004.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on September 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William C. Ploettner and Irene M. (Watson) Ploettner and the granddaughter of the late Bertie C. Watson and Lilyan R. (Pye) Watson, and the late Herman C. Ploettner and Margaret E. (Burnell) Ploettner. She was raised in Attleboro, MA and was a 1945 graduate of Attleboro High School.
Mrs. Moore was employed as a secretary by the L.G. Balfour Company (Attleboro, MA) for ten years prior to the births of her four children. She and her husband resided in Attleboro before moving to Norton, MA in 1981.
She grew up during the Great Depression and enjoyed sharing stories about her childhood. While raising her children, she sewed, knitted, and made many crafts projects. She was a lifelong animal lover.
Irene was known for her love of children. She offered daycare in her home to local families for many years prior to moving to Norton. She was a Cub Scout den mother and also supported Boy Scout activities. Through the Fresh Air Fund, she provided several New York City children an opportunity to enjoy summer activities with her family.
She was an ordained Teacher of the Community of Christ Church (formerly known as Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS)) in Attleboro and Avon, MA, where her husband served as elder and pastor. For many years, she and her husband summered on the church campground in Onset, MA.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Karen A. Bilodeau (Theodore J. Bilodeau) of Wrentham, MA, Daniel R. Moore of Windemere, FL, Cynthia E. Bylander(Thomas C. Bylander) of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Randall S. Moore (Andrea L. Moore) of Norton, MA;
Grandchildren, Laura A. Paquette, Eric D. Moore, Alexander P. Moore, Nicholas T. Moore, Jaliyah L. Moore, Melissa M. Moore, Kirstin M. Moore, Anders T. Bylander, Catherine A. Bylander and Matthew W. Bilodeau.
Greatgrandchildren, John A. Paquette, Aubrey A. Paquette, twins, Madison and Charlee Moore, Kendra Moore, and Owen J. Moore.
Former daughters-in-law: Georgia Valdibieso, Daphne (“Tshidi”) Moore and Sheri M. Thomas.
Irene also leaves her sister, Ruth E. Jordan and brother, Robert Ploettner.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was predeceased by her sister Dorothy M. Pierini Butler and her step-father Edward Hoernig.
Arrangements by the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, Attleboro.
Interment will be at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
