Fall River, MA— Helen M. (Salim) Faris, 92, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Faris. Helen was born in Rio de Janeiro, the daughter of the late Miquel and Rosa Salim. She owned and operated the Highland Drug Store and Brow’s Drug Store in Fall River for many years. Helen was active with the Fall River Evening Lioness Club, the Knights of Columbus and was a Charter Member of the Fall River Carousel Lions club. She also was an avid bowler. Mrs. Faris cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Survivors are her two daughters: Deborah S. Faris and Dorene T. Faris of Fall River; two sons: Michael J. Faris and his wife Mary Beth and John J. Faris and his wife Sondra of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren: Michael, Matthew (deceased), John Jr., Jay, Jeffrey and Jake; two great grandchildren: James and Luke; two sisters: Lydia Salim and Selma Guimaraes both of Brazil; dear to her heart a special niece Joyce Berube of Portsmouth, RI; along with several other nieces and nephews. Calling Hours for Mrs. Faris will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 4-8pm in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson Street, Fall River. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 9am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of the Divine Liturgy at 10am in Saint Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 North Eastern Ave., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
