Geraldine M. Ruell

Geraldine Marie Ruell, 84, of Fairhaven, MA, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Eugene James Ruell, Jr.

Born in Fairhaven, MA, daughter of the late George and Albina Martin, Geraldine was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Geraldine was a busy mother of six, who held jobs in the community as well as at Aerovox, Our Lady's Haven, and often helped at the local elementary school. Later in life, she enjoyed trips with the Senior Center for shopping and visiting the flower shows as she was an avid gardener.

She is survived by her six children, James Ruell and his wife Linda of Rochester, MA and their two children Laura Ruell and Katheryn Ruell, Debra Ruell of Fairhaven, Ann Harris of Summerfield, Florida and her two children Andrea and Jonathan Harris, Cheryl Ruell of Fairhaven, Jeffery Ruell of Chelsea, MA and Michelle Westgate and her husband Joshua and their four children Ian Sherman, Leisel Westgate, Adam Westgate, Joshua Westgate. She also is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Geraldine is predeceased by her three siblings: William Martin, George Martin, and Teresa Hart.


Calling hours will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 4-7pm in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven followed by interment in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford.
