George R. Briggs, 86, passed away on September 8, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Elaine M. (Pelletier) Briggs.
George was born in Taunton on May 2, 1935, and was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Marshall) Briggs.
George was a member of the Navy Reserves and a graduate of Northeastern University, earning his degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Briggs dedicated more than 35 years to Attleboro High school, where he taught Electronics for 20 years and then became the Co-op Work and Vocational Department Head. George was well known and respected by his students and fellow teachers, and enjoyed nothing more than making learning fun for all. He was known as a man who could build or fix anything he put his mind to, having built the very house he and his family called home for many years. George sang on the radio and in the choir as a boy, and later in life was a self-taught banjo player. He enjoyed traveling the country with his family in their camper and taking summer trips to the family cottage in West Island. George was a true family man. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and always put the needs of others before himself.
Mr. Briggs is survived by his daughter, Kathleen D. Pacheco and her husband Edward of Fall River; sister, Patricia Fuller and her husband Robert of West Island; brother, Paul Briggs and his wife Barbara of N. Attleboro; grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Aja, Alayna and Alexa; great-grandchildren, Giana, Holden, Liam and Meadow and many nieces and nephews.
