George Ronald Palmer

George Ronald Palmer, age 87, a resident of Taunton passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Elizabeths Hospital. He was the husband of Dianne Nancy Palmer with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. 

He was born in Taunton and was the son of the late Willard and Mary (Gomes) Palmer.  George worked for many years as a Correctional Officer at Norfolk and then Bay State. After his retirement he decided to go back to work as a school bus driver. George always liked to keep busy, he enjoyed going fishing, and hunting, being at the beach and spending time with his family.  He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and dedication and commitment to wife and children.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children Patti Santos and her husband Teddy, Justine Hayden and her husband Shawn, and David Palmer; his brother Gary Palmer and his wife Betty; his grandchildren Corey Seekell, and Cody Santos and his wife Teresa; his great grandchildren Mia Pittsley and Kane Santos.

Predeceased by his parents; his son George “Rusty” Palmer, Jr., his sister Cathy Boucher; and his brother Richard Palmer. 

His visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 4pm-7pm at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home at 350 Somerset Street in Taunton. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
