George Mello, Jr.

June 21, 2022

Obituary

George Mello, Jr., 52, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 21, 2022. He was the loving husband of Erin (Golden) Mello, with whom he shared 12 years of marriage.

Mr. Mello was born and raised in Fall River. He was the son of George Mello, Sr., and Cecelia (Ayala) Mello.

George was a former manager at Dunkin Donuts in Somerset, a career that spanned over 30 years. George loved his job and was well liked by his coworkers, always took the time to get to know his younger staff and help them succeed in their goals. After retiring, George stayed busy at home day-trading and investing and spending time with his family. Nothing brought George more enjoyment than sitting by his fire-pit with a glass of bourbon, a good cigar, and his dog Oakley. He always took the time to enjoy the simple things no matter where he was. George was a well known New England sports fan and was also a talented artist and painter, a passion that he passed on to his children. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Faith Mello, Alycia Mello and her companion Nicole Ferreira and her mother Marie Aguiar-Mello all of Fall River; siblings, Patricia Tourgee and her husband William of Berkley and Karen Souza and Christine Russo all of Fall River, his sister-in-laws Kathleen Golden-Bernier and her husband Jeffrey Bernier and Seana Golden as well as several nieces and nephews, and countless life long friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 12-3pm in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. Prayers will be held at 3pm. Cremation to follow.
