Obituary


Francis “Frank” J. Souza, age 89, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph M. And Mary (Pimental) Souza and beloved wife of Jeanne (Pothier) Souza of 62 years. Frank graduated from East Coast Aerotec School where he received a Aeronautical Masters Technician Certificate and then went on to Wentworth Institute to become a Certified Welder. Upon his graduation he went on to work at Sikorsky Aircraft, Eastern Airline, Northeast Concrete Products as a welding foreman, and he retired from Taunton Stove Company in North Dighton MA as a certified Welder. He was also a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Annunciation of Lord Parish where he was a greeter and usher for over 50 years, a Marian Medial recipient from Bishop Sean O’Malley as well as the Top Hat award from the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Frank was also a past president and member the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Past Grand Knight of Council 82, member of the 4th degree of Knights of Columbus Brother Robert Nichols number 0398, Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Korean War Veterans Chapter 36, VFW Post 611 of Taunton, and Catholic War Veterans John F. Kennedy Post 109. He enjoyed traveling and cruising and visited all 50 states, was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins fan, he welded his own bike for transportation and participated in the PAN MASS Challenge, and completely welded a pig cooker trailer, rode a donkey down into the Grand Canyon, rode a bike down Mount Haleakala at Haleakala National Park, and restored an antique sleigh. Above all else he was happiest when spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: David F. Souza (wife Michele) of Taunton, Donald M. Souza (wife Lisa) of Fall River, and Debra Lynch (husband James) of Taunton, grandchildren: Brandon, Megan, Jonathan, and Cameron, great granddaughter: Janelle, sisters: Liberia Souza, Barbara Holtz, and Agnes Massey all of CA, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph, John, Robert and Anna Souza, Evelyn Moura and Sr. M. Florita Souza.
Calling hours for Frank will take place on Monday, May 9th from 4-7 PM at the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home 350 Somerset Ave. Taunton. His funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 10th, 9AM from the funeral home and 10 AM at Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 1st St., Taunton at 10 AM. Interment in MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 PM.
