Florence I. Martin

July 19, 2020

Obituary

Florence I. Martin, 95, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2020. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late David T. Martin.

Florence was born in Fall River and was the daughter of the late Clarence Snyder and Hilda (Sherwood) Snyder.

Florence was employed for many years as a clerk with the former Fall River Electric Light Co and held several other careers during the time she spent in Colorado and New Jersey. She was a longtime member of Church of Our Saviour in Somerset where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Four Seasons Club. Florence was also a member of the Red Hats, enjoyed her trips with the Foxy Ladies Club and was a die hard New England sports fan who faithfully supported her beloved Red Sox and Celtics. Her dedication to her Episcopal faith and to her family came above all else to Florence and she cared deeply for those around her, especially her many nieces and nephews.

Florence is survived by her sister, Edna Barlow and brother George E. Snyder both of Somerset.

She was the sister of the late June Duerden and Hilda Henderson.

Florence will be laid to rest beside her dear husband David in the Christ Church Cemetery, Swansea.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, Somerset.

The family would like to acknowledge the kind and compassionate care provided to Florence by the staff of Moran 3 and South Coast Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Stroke Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
