Emily Mae Santarpia

Emily Mae Santarpia, 13, of Taunton, passed away peacefully in the arms of her parents, surrounded by her siblings on Monday, January 30, 2023 at her home. She was born in Taunton the loving daughter of John R. and Maria H. (Duarte) Santarpia. Emily Mae enjoyed playing soccer for the TOPPS league in Fall River, basketball, going out to eat, vacationing, swimming in her pool, relaxing in her hot tub, riding her adaptive bike and playing with her siblings, niece and nephew. She loved her family dearly, as well as mermaids, books, farm animals, Snoopy and Charlie Brown, Peppa Pig, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Cocomelon, Count from Sesame Street, Meghan Trainor and Bob Marley. Survivors besides her parents are her twin sister, Kimberly Santarpia of Taunton, Melissa Cavaco and her husband David of Somerset, a brother Michael Moniz of Taunton, paternal grandparents John and Beverly Santarpia of Carver, a niece Audriana and a nephew Zane, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the granddaughter of the late Joao and Connie Duarte. Calling Hours for Emily Mae will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1-4pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11am at Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, 19 Kilmer Ave., Taunton. Burial will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory can be made to Dreams for Emily, 22 Davis Street, Taunton, MA 02780. Emily’s parents and siblings wish to thank her amazing home nurses who provided loving care to Emily in the comfort of her home over the past 4 years, her extraordinary, caring and compassionate pediatrician Dr. Elizabeth McQuaid, her brilliant physicians at Boston Childrens Hospital and all her teachers, assistants and therapists over the past 12.5 years.
