Obituary

Edward M. Mendonca, age 94, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel and Cordlina (Estrella) Mendonca, and beloved husband of the late Shirley R. (Kennedy) Mendonca. Edward was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, as well as a Police Officer in the Parks Division. In his earlier days, he enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, quahoging, and was a member of The Williams Green Post D.A.V. #9 in Fall River , The PVT Joseph Francis VFW Post 486 in Fall River, and The Woodrow Silvia VFW Post #5392 in Tiverton.

He is survived by his son Kenneth Mendonca, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Edward Mendonca, step father of the late Joseph E. Soares, and Deborah Curtis, brother of the late John DeMendonca, Joseph Mendonca, Angelo Mendonca, Irene Oliveira, Alexandria Santos, and Laura Baldwin.

Calling hours for Edward will take place on Thursday, August 4th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11AM at St. Louis de France Church 56 Buffinton St. Swansea Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Swansea.
