Edna F. (Harder) Chadwick, 102, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Alden Court, in Fairhaven. She was the wife of the late Arnold Chadwick, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Frederick M. And Edina M. (Scott) Harder, she settled in Rochester in 1946 and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rochester.
Edna was a bookkeeper for Chadwick Oil, the family business, and she also worked as an alternate dispatcher for the Rochester Fire and EMS in the early years of dispatching. Edna was the oldest town resident and in 2019 was a recipient of the Boston Post Cane.
She is survived by her children, Scott Chadwick and his wife Pauline of Rochester and Susan Thomas of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Karen Chadwick-Mello, Kristin Chadwick, Lisa McCarl and Geoffrey Thomas; four great grandchildren, Kyle Mello, Bethany Mello, Alexis Thomas and Max Thomas; a great, great grandchild, Madison McCarl; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Helen Thompson, Ruth Cook and Sylvia Gifford.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11am, in the Sherman Cemetery, 33-37 Pine St., Rochester, MA.
Arrangements are by the Donaghy-Hathaway Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford.
