Donald R. Pratt, 70, passed away on July 14, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maureen (Harrington) Pratt, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Donald was born in Fall River and was the son of the late Benoit and Archangel (Desbiens) Pratt.
Donald served his country honorably in the US Air Force and was employed in the computer industry for many years, he held a long and distinguished career with AT&T and went on to work for MERK Pharmaceuticals, Prudential and most recently for the Jamaica Plain Veterans Hospital as a programmer until his retirement. Donald was a talented woodworker and carpenter and enjoyed crafting beautiful furniture. He was a talented bowler and also enjoyed biking, and playing tennis and was a member of the Dighton Historical Society. Donald and his wife Maureen loved to travel together and their adventures took them to many places including, Bermuda, Hawaii and Ireland. Donald will be remembered as a very intelligent talented and inquisitive man, a lover of science fiction and American history and a man who would do anything for his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his, sister-in-law Karen Santos and her husband Ken; nephews, Thomas Santos and his wife Katie, Daniel Santos and his wife Sarah and Michael Santos, four great-nieces and nephews and many life long friends.
He was the brother of the late Elaine Hubbard.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.
Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 2-4pm in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset.
****Mask wearing and social distancing will be required throughout the funeral.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to WAG Animal Rescue, the MSPCA, Dighton Animal Shelter, or to a local animal rescue charity of your choice. In addition, donations may be made to the Dighton Historical Society or to the 1st Lt. Rob Seidel Wounded Soldiers Fund.
